Yang Liwei was born on June 21st, 1965 in a teacher's family in Suizhong Country of Liaoning Province . He joined army in July 1983, and joined the Communist party in September 1988.he is Professor who works in the Space Medicine Engineering Institute. Yang Liwei was awarded the "space hero”, “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of China" successively, and the party's alternate member of 17th CPC Central.
　　Yang Liwei graduated from the No.8 Aviation College of the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army in 1987. Later, he became a fighter pilot. He spends more than 1,350 hours on the air. He has spent 5 years training to become a spaceman. He completed basic theory, space environmental adaptability and professional skills and the other five major categories, learning the professional training mission. Yang Liwei passed comprehensive assessments finally, and became an excellent spaceman. Colonel Yang Liwei is an astronaut, and he is also a member of the first Astronaut Team of the People's Liberation Army. Yang Liwei was sent into space at 9 a .m on October 15th by China 's Shenzhou-5 spacecraft. He landed safely, making China the third country successfully sending a person into space after the former Soviet Union and the USA . All of the Chinese are proud of our first spaceman.
